On the hunt for a low price bicycle

Freecycle often has bikes listed, or perhaps try your local Freeads type newspaper (if there is one near you). The other option is to just let people know that you are looking for bikes. Often people have them languishing in their sheds/garages - they don't want to dump them but can't be bothered to advertise either. My DH got a fantastic bike from my friend's husband for absolutely nothing. DH mentioned he needed a bike, friend's husband wanted a bit more space in his garage - everyone got what they wanted and no money exchanged.

Im also looking for a cheap bike. Not having a problem over where to buy it, but what type to buy.
I need one for following my hubby when he goes out running.. part woods/park/dirt tracks and part roads. Can anyone advise please. Thanks sooo much.
Spare change tin in force this year!NRAM PPI : £6022.56 - WIN! :jLLOYDS PPI : £4684.66 - WIN! :jMy Pearl of Wisdom : Don't be scared to say "I can't afford it", or "I'm skint" to anything... If you're lucky, you'll still be able to do what you want, just find a different way -and if you can't, you don't need it anyway!0 -
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If the ground isn't too rough some sort of hybrid bike. If you've a reasonable budget maybe one with a front suspension fork. If the ground he runs on is very rough get a Mountain Bike.
Alternatively you could go a bit left field and get a Cyclocross bike. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends

Have you looked at those bikes at Asda? Teh adult bikes weigh 18Kg! That's an immense amoutn for a bike and will make riding them very hard work. They're cheap for a reason.
Try and get something lighter and with better quality components on it. You dont' have to spend a fortune but if you want to get a bike you actually enjoy riding you need to spend a bit more than that. It's my problem, it's my problem
