hi sorry hubby called me away. just got the citroen back on the tow truck so he was ranting about it and looking under the bonnet. will give you freezer info now0
-
did you want the cubic capacity thingy or just the general size of it? sorry for being a bit thick0

you mentioned running a fan blower all night for comfort noise, i know what you mean, a suggestion on wind chimes was made, i would try a wall clock, the cheap imitation pendulum kind running on small batteries, the tick tock it makes would replace the fan noise and cost a lot less and may even help you sleep better
and its more regular than wind chimes 0 -
thanks methusala, freezer is 7.5 cubic capacity whatever that means and is grade 'D' (not so good, my fridge is 'A' rated)0

good suggestion with replacing the blower with something else more efficient. I will have a think. don't know about a clock as ticking and clicking noises drive me mad. but I think you're on the right track there. I sleep better with sort of hushing and swishing noises. will have a look on the net I think and see if there's anything I can use to replace the blower. I have it on the lowest setting so it is just that soft blowing noise.0

ok the freezer at 7.5 cubic feet and 3 years old is not overly thirsty on electricity at its present consumption but what you probably need to do is keep it FULL either with the boxes suggestion or food, and defrost on a quarterly basis for a feezer that size to ensure it kicks in as little as possible to keep the annual consumption down. Of course a newer model in group A would be ideal but your not in a position to replace it at present.Hope i've helped with the advice on filling and defrosting tho.

After defrost and settling down the power consumption wont drop much if at all when the freezer is actually on but it should kick in considerably less times in a 24 hour period and be running for shorter periods. When the motor is not actually running the consumption on the freezer is 0 unlike appliances on stand by.0 -
thanks methusala, yes, all suggestions are welcome. when times eventually get easier i'll invest in a more energy efficient model. we bought it at the time because we were desperate and it was cheap. it was less than £100 and we had to go with buying cost at the time. will fill with boxes etc when not full and am going to defrost it tonight. also I think it may have been on too high a setting. so have turned it down.0
