Copying movie files to dvd

help ! I can copy the movie files from my digital still ixus camera straight to dvd (yamada 8400x) if they're already on the memory card. But how do I get the archive of movie files on my hard drive onto the memory card so the camera will recognise it ? Or is it easier to hook up the laptop to the burner ? I've got some cucusoft software to convert avi to mpeg4 but it doesnt work very well.

Archived as xp copies them onto hard drive, I think they're saved in avi format ?

When you put your memory card into your computer slot, does it not open up as a removable disk? If not automatically you must be able to "surf" through your computer file directory tree to find it.

When you have found it clean it up moving files you want to keep and deleting all files from it. Then simply drag and drop your files on your computer onto your memory card assuming the memory card is big enough to hold them.

That's just my 2pence, I have not got WIN XP or a digital camera or a dvd burner so it's all just "surley this is how to do it"

thanks wig. Its easy to get the files onto the memory card but I need the digital camera to recognize them so i can then export them back to the dvd burner and copy them onto dvd. Thats the problem !
