Getting mortgage for son with bad credit

To neverdespairgirl: Thanks for the feedback. I, too, would never ask my mother for such a thing. She raised us to handle our own financial business. I don't know why my son feels comfortable enough to even ask this of me. My own mother told me that when my brother, who was 28 and single at the time, suggested that my mom and he buy a home together (she had the money for a down payment; he didn't), she told him flat out "no" -- and he never brought the subject up again. And he never got angry either. He's now 45 years old and just bought his 4th home, and he did it all on his own.
Yes, I think both my sons take me pretty much for granted. Hard to swallow but sometimes the truth hurts.
But, anyway, thanks for the birthday wishes!0 -

WHy not tell them that, calmly? Tell your sons that you feel taken for granted, and hurt that they didn't remember your birthday....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
My older son -- not the one who wants me to get the mortgage -- actually didn't call on my birthday but emailed me about 10pm as he was "out of minutes." And so at least he remembered... But yes, I plan to let my youngest son know -- calmly (thank you!) -- how I feel to be taken for granted. I'm going to have that conversation today in fact.....and will let you know how it went.
Thanks, Lola0 -
Happy belated birthday Lola

I'm 24 years old and am full of ambitions of things I want, a new TV, a new(ish) car and a deposit on a house I can call my own (which doesn't limit me on keeping pets).
But I'm aware that I need to work towards earning these things for myself. My parents offered me £100 towards a TV for Christmas but I'm aware money's tight for everyone right now so I'm thinking of politely refusing, or just keeping the cheque until I know they're more financially secure.
That isn't me being selfless, for one thing it's only a TV a I have a perfectly usable old one, and my parents have done so much raising me, feeding me and clothing me well over the years I shouldn't really ask for more

deedeeliz: Thank you for the birthday wishes! Your parents must be very proud of you for being such a caring, thoughtful person. With that attitude, you will reach your goal of owning your own home one day I am sure....Best wishes to you!0
