Help Mites in my linens????

Please help me - I have a plastic box under my bed full of towels and sheets etc.. I was just tidying it out and on the bottom of the box there were loads of little mites - really quite small but visible to the eye moving around, they were a brownish colour. When I looked closer at some of my linens they were moving around on them. Ilve cleaned the box out and thrown away the infested things. What I want to know is what were they and where have they come from and how can I get rid of them? I have ruled out fleas and dust mites. Any ideas? I feel all itchy ick!

argh could they have been bed bugs? im not sure though, was the box sealed? What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0

No it wasn't sealed - it was full so it kind of peeped open a little bit. I've been reading up about bed bugs but I'm not sure its them either? I haven't suffered any bites or had any spots of bllod on the bed linen or anything?:j0

Just looked on Wikipedia and it said house dust mites were 0.5 mm long and visible to the naked eye. Maybe it was them? I'm no expert though.
Did you actually chuck out the linen? It probably would have been OK after a very hot wash. Waste not want not.
I think you can get sprays to kill dust mites, would probably work on other mites as well.

hope you get it sortedWhat matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
I'm afraid i did throw out a few things oysteroick they were the most infested. I've just chucked a fair few towels and stuff on a boil wash now. Maybe they are dust mites - they don't seem to be the carpet beetles that pickles mentioned? Going for a more thorough inspection under the bed see if they are anywhere else.:j0

apologies for getting both your names wrong there!:o:j0

Take the vacuum cleaner with you.........
catch a few on some sellotape to identify and suck the rest of them up before they breed!

Sounds like bed bugs to me - try giving everywhere a good hoover including the mattress and disinfect. If you have wallpaper check it because the little bug**s like it there tooBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
