How much does it cost to call / fax an 07000 # from a BT landline?
Thanks.
Thanks.

what a scam. is the company whose number it is (not the supplier) getting a cut of it.0

Numbers starting 070 are in what OFCOM defines as the Personal Numbering range. These numbers can be directed to call any phone number the holder wants them to. They are commonly referred to as "find me anywhere" numbers and they cost more than calls to normal 07 mobile numbers.
My view is that they ought to be reclassified under the 09 range for Premium rated numbers as they are ambiguous and most people assume that they are normal mobile numbers.0 -
i agree, entirely.0

The problem is most people see an 07xxx number and assume it to be a mobile number.
They simply don't know 070 numbers are (in effect) 'disguised Premium Rate' numbers and, depending on the digits after the 070 part, can cost up to 50p a minute to call from a BT landline.
Making that mistake when using a landline is bad enough but imagine the nasty suprise if you call from your mobile assuming your x-network minutes will let you make the call for free (mobile networks can charge considerably more than the BT charges mentioned above).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0
