Help!! Storage Heaters

Please please can someone help.

I have night storage heaters, i hate them but its a rented house so they have to stay!

They are sunhouse ones and under a flap on the top there are two dials. Input and output (Carga and discarga) and numbers 1 -6.

How on earth do i use these things?

WE have lived here 2 years and barely use them but over the last month ive needed them!!

They are switched off at the wall unless i want to use them.

at the moment they are switched on in the lounge, hall and childrens bedroom

they come on at about 1/2 am....by 3/4 am its too warm and then by about 5pm its cold and they dont come back on until the early hours again.

what should i have these dials set on? rather than cooking all night and freezing on an evening id like to keep the house warm!

Please help, ive no idea what to do with them!

thanks

It depends what type you have.

However the principle they all work on is that you set the level of input heat to be absorbed by the heaters in the 7 night hours of cheap electricity.

Then you control the amount of heat that they release during the day,

I doubt if there are any storage heaters on the market that will keep your house really warm all day(the 17 hours) You have to compromise between a low setting during the day, or having to use additional heating in the evening.

From memory - input maximum, so 6 and output minimum - 0 until evening when you turn up the output to release more heat. In theory. In practice, there was no heat left to release by the time we all sat down in the evening. That's the problem - they provide background heating but aren't enough to use on their own IME.

    Input is the heating thermostate.
Output controls the heat release flap.

Set output to minium, so the heat is stored in the unit properly.
Set the input to about 5/10 and see how it goes.

They seem to work fine in my flat. I never open the output - enough heat leaks out with it set on minimum.
    Happy chappy
