Mircosoft works word processer

in Techie Stuff
I am trying to type something but when I go back to amend or add a word it is typing over what I have already typed, how can I stop this? I have had this problem before and sorted it but can't remember how?

    Press the "Ins" (Insert) key on your keyboard. This toggles overwriting.

    On my keyboard there is a bank of buttons which say

    Insert - home - page up
    Delete - end - Page down

    Press the insert button and try that

    Press the "Insert" key (to the right of backspace on most keyboards except laptops)

    this toggles between the two modes of typing.

    Edit: ahhhhhhhhhhh post delays.
