My daughter has had her laptop for approx a year now. This morning she got an error message saying that the windows password was incorrect... it then said that the Windows Vista package was not genuine... but it came on the lenovo laptop purchased from the BT online shop?
I have re-activated and validated the vista package and recieved a confirmation note however on the start page in the bottom right hand corner there is a note that says
"Windows Vista (TM)
Build 6000
This copy of windows is not genuine"
I cant see why his has happened or how to solve the problem. Any help most welcome.
Thanks.

Does it give you a Microsoft number to call?
I would call them first and then failing that the supplier of the laptop.0 -
The following web site http://social.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/genuinevista/threads/ is for "Issues relating to the Windows Vista Software Protection Platform - Non-Genuine dialog boxes, validation problems, or software licensing services messages"
Click the link "Please Read Before Posting" below the "Announcements" heading and follow instructions.
Alternatively backup all data and restore computer to factory state - I think it's F11 at startup on Lenovo laptops. You will then have to reinstall all software and restore data.0 -
There's an option on the menu when you ring 0870 60 10 100 to handle these queries.0
