Windows Vista - Says not Genuine version?

My daughter has had her laptop for approx a year now. This morning she got an error message saying that the windows password was incorrect... it then said that the Windows Vista package was not genuine... but it came on the lenovo laptop purchased from the BT online shop?

I have re-activated and validated the vista package and recieved a confirmation note however on the start page in the bottom right hand corner there is a note that says
"Windows Vista (TM)
Build 6000
This copy of windows is not genuine"

I cant see why his has happened or how to solve the problem. Any help most welcome.
Thanks.
