Newbie looking for some helpful hints!?!?!

After a couple of quick online quotes we have found that we can get our contents insurance from elephant for about £8 which saves us around £11 a month. But I need some advice, as this is an annual insurance can we cancel it half way through the year?? I know it will probably say somewhere in the terms and conditions be I can’t find anything in there. We are with the abbey for contents insurance, I know very silly of us to just go with what the bank offered but we are young and naive, we didn’t know any better!! So some help with this would be a great help!!!
As for the other insurances. Did a quick quote on moneysupermarket.com and for our age the best quote was around £12 a month each but out of curiosity we did it for my brothers date of birth and a couple of different sites came up that didn’t come up on ours. So after an instant quote on "helpupay" (one which didn’t come up on ours) the best we came out with was £6 each a month so £12 for the both of us. This would save us £8 a month. Like the contents insurance is this an annual insurance?? And can we cancel it half way through a year????
Our on going search for gas and electric is taking a little longer as I couldn't get onto the online account system for British gas to find our last bill (online billing) I managed to find an old bill for the electric (we just switched to British gas so not got a bill from them yet) According the uswitch.com we can save nearly £100 a year by switching to Seaboard Energy. I have never heard of these people, has anyone had experience with them??? As we get our evening and weekend calls free through one tel because we get both gas and elec from British gas, are there any alternatives with this same sort of offer (by alternatives I mean phone companies)
I to believe my partner isn’t getting what she deserves, she has got a NVQ level 3 in business administration but she is getting a rubbish pay deal. fingers crossed her pay review will sort this out or even better some of the jobs that she has applied for will come back with a yes 14k and up a year!!!
If anyone can help with regard to the above let us know!!!!

Well I think it was your DOB, but you should know that i can never seem to remember when it is :-). If you are using moneysupermarket.com it is worth seein if you get better results using a different date of birth, for some reason i have to be 6 months older to get better results on moneysupermarket but on the companies website it doesnt matter!!!0
