Ref sky. we have our brothers and sisters over as we babysit alot so the cartoons have to stay
Even if you cancel sky, you will still get cbeebies.
I have a 3 year old at home all day who loved Nick Jr and Disneychannel. She now has to make do with cbeebies or DVDs but saying that, she hasn't really missed it that much and in a weeks time she'll forget we ever had it!
I was on a new 12 month contract from Oct and i managed to cancel my channels, i still have to pay £10 per month for my sky+ subscription but it beats £52 what i was paying before. Ring them and tell them you cant afford it anymore and see what they say.Lightbulb moment Dec 2005 - debt £23700

Only DON'T move to onetel for line rental if you are on dial up internet as you need a BT line for all the good deals.
Plus the saving of 75p a month doe not make up for the Indian call centre staff who don't speak English.:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

After a couple of quick phone calls and internet searches we have the following results:
Bt - down to £11 a month instead of £20
Sky - down to £15 from £21
Insurance - Best requote from £130 a month down to £95
So far that is a monthly save of £50. :j Next will be looking to sort out the contents insurance and bring it down a little!!!0 -

Im looking into a saturday job at the moment, (i currently work all week as well), i have did a saturday job before last christmas 2004 which i enjoyed, but i could keep up at the time due to my alchoholism (seriously!) but i think its a good way to earn extra money even if its just on a staurday
Donna (partner) already takes on extra hours at work for overtime rate. At least 3 hours a week, and is an Avon Rep to help bring in a bit more money, but if we did anymore then it would be too much for us to cope!!0 -
Darling Brother and Future Sister in law - should have been more open to me when you need help (could be the next Martin Lewis in the making). Good thing that the book I was given here on this site is starting to shine with you two
Home Insurance - (Contents only to approx 35-40K) check out https://www.moneysupermarket.com - I will be sorting mine out very soon when mine is up for renewal so I would save approx £4-5 per month.1. why no buildings insurance?2. why 19 for tv licence?3. shop round for cheaper mortgage protection insurance and life cover- do you really need latter? if so why?4. get rid of mobile phone or change to payg. why are they essential?5. With the loan - check to see what pentlies are in place if you repay early as there are some out there at 5.7 - 5.8% APR
Life cover for £5 for 1 person (me at £32k for my mortgage) at Asda - but have been quoted for £5.60 per month on £77k via the Moneymarket site.
Your paying tooo much for the gas/elecie - as you know I only pay £32 a month.... may be worthwhile to see if your in credit at the next bill run. - Same with the water - £15 was tooo much for me and came out in £160 in credit.
I did say the 1st year is always hard - but family is here if you need help and advice.0 -

HAHAHA :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Somehow I don't think cbeebies is going to work on 10-13 year olds...
Good one!0 -
I dont know if this helps at all, but I got my contents insurance with nationwide who dont charge extra for monthly repayment, and had an option of increasing the excess to bring down the premium - my contents insurance costs around £7 per month! Have a look online at various providers and see who comes out cheapest for you, but also make sure you look at the actual cover and get what you would actually need.
With your gas and electricity - are you on a meter? I made sure I had a meter before I moved into my current place to make sure it was accurate - and secondly, check the readingd and give them to the company to see if you have been overcharged at all.
Finally, is your partner working full time? Is that a good wage for where you live? Is there any chance she could look into a payrise, or finding a higher paying job? I know my next comment will seem a little rude, but she isnt earning as high as she possibly could - admin jobs in the NHS are around £11.5K, £11-13k in a bank etc. This might help as I suppose you would be more reluctant to find something else given that you are training for a career?
