damage to carpet. worth claiming?

Hello. Moved into my first house 2 years ago and been gradually trying to decorate to my taste. Previous owner's horrendous red carpet is still there though. My partner spilt wax all over it yesterday and I have checked my policy and it seems I am covered for "accidental damage however caused". I have not made any claims so far. My questions are (1) would an insurance company be likely to entertain the claim and (2) if they would, would it be worth it taking into account future increased premiums?
Many thanks

If it's candle wax this is very easily removed from carpets & it's unlikely that insurance would pay out for a replacement. If you did make a claim then yes your insurance premium would probably increase on renewal.
As you don't like the carpet anyway & intend replacing it when you can to something to your own taste, you'll be better off just removing the wax & living with the red carpet a while longer.
If it is candle wax & you want to remove it, then use a warm iron, making sure an old towel or tea towel or something similar is placed over the spilt wax. The warmth melts the wax it is absorbed by the fabric. Be careful not to let the iron touch the carpet though as if it's a cheapie it will melt it.The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
