I want to "have a go" at share trading just to get the hang of it.Better to learn while young where money isn't a problem. So please don't tell me it isn't a quick way to make money,I know that.
I am looking at the Halifax Sharebuilder, but have a question about it.
It says a minimum of £20 a month (into potential 4 different lines),or a lump sum of £250 (which after finding out,is not worth it),so what would happen if were to stop the direct debit? Or if I did not wish to invest for a period of 6-12 months? (severe example,I know)

They are both the same, TMF just rebrands AFAIK.
As has been mentioned, the £20 minimum really means "zero or at least £20". In fact, you don't need a recurring investment plan if you don't want it, you can make a decision each week (on or betore Tues).
Just a few points to consider:
- Shares are usually bulk purchased at around 9:30 on the allocated day. This, annoyingly, coincides with the initial spike which often occurs early on in the day, so you can sometimes lose out -- but this shouldn't really matter for the type of trading the SB service is designed for.
- You can open a Share Dealing account alongside your Share Builder account, but shares (nor cash) can't be transferred between the two. So you end up with two lumps of shares (and two lumps of selling feels) if you want to do real-time dealing *as well*.0
