Faulty Dell Laptop Question

Has anyone else had to return something to Dell under warranty?

My XPS M1330 has suddenly developed a fault. It seems to start up but the screen is showing some kind of classic LCD fault (lots of stripes).

I purchased from Ebay but its less than one year old and I searched on the Service Tag to confirm it is still under warranty.

Can anyone supply a link which explains how I can send it back to Dell to be repaired?

The warranty is 'one business day' type, and the dell euro support website seems very complicated (un-necessarily so!)

Thanks!

  • First you'll need to contact Dell to transfer the warranty to your name. They won't deal with it until that is done.
  • This is a very common fault on the XPS M1330, caused by them being shipped with faulty NVIDIA graphics cards, which eventually kills the motherboard. The motherboard needs to be replaced.

Ring Dell, explain the fault and don't let their call centre fob you off by making you attempt to run through endless 'diagnostics' - they know what the problem is with these machines. If you are still under warranty, they should send out a technician next day.

The direct line for their Irish call centre is: 00353850 333 200

I sent one back under warranty many moons ago and they sorted it no problem, it's it's next day on-site, insist they come out, as they have a habit of passing you to a call centre operator to talk you through software and hardware checks.
