My parents need a new roof on their privately owned home. They are both retired and on income support. Does anybody knw if there are any grants available to enable them to renew their roof.

Check with their local council - some offer a housing renewal grant to people on certain benefits/limited income0

it might be helpful if you could post the area that they live in.0

You can get renovation grants but be prepared to be questioned on income, and have a very long wait and I mean years0
-
Doubtful you will get a grant. Could they remortgage if they have enough equity in their home?

my local council does the following. yours may differ. these grants/loans/help are available to pensioners and are means tested.

The forms of assistance that will be available for the purposes of carrying out repairs and improvements are:- Repayment Loan
- Appreciation Loan
- Direct Financial Assistance
appreciation loan is where the council take a % share in the house. repayment to be made when the house is eventually sold.
direct financial assistance is like the old type home improvement grant. this is rarely used now.
there are a number of conditions to be met, before any help is given.Get some gorm.0
