I have been having trouble opening an e savers account with Nat West I sent them a joint bank statement showing everything they asked for they said that was no good because it did not show full names so I said the only thing I have that does show full names is our council tax requests for the new year, they said that will do, got a letter saying that is no good sent Inland Revenue new tax coding I called them saying that does not show full names, they then said sent passports I told them to tear up my deposit they can stick their savings account its been nearly 5 weeks since I first applied. I seem to be under the impression its my money I am giving them.

There is also the approach that if in doubt, take it again just in case the person that did it first time round didnt do it right.
ISAs are perhaps a good example as many banks hold their ISAs centrally and there is a good chance that the info in opening that account all went to the central unit and no copy held locally.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I was phoned by my bank and the caller asked me to confirm my identity by answering some security questions. My response....?
"Shouldn't I be asking YOU for your credentials?"
Was also asked recently for proof of id and I've had accounts with them for over 20 years! I declined and asked if they would like to close my accounts. I don't know why, after so long, they felt the need to ask - they say they were "updating their files". I still have the accounts and they haven't asked again - yet!0
