If you have tried uninstalling them, but to no avail, you could try either a 3rd-party application which *sometimes* works. If there is lots on there, you could always start fresh by reinstalling windows, providing you have a windows CD. (If it is a branded PC - e.g. Dell or HP, you will most likely have a "restore disk")
If your dad has lost them (either windows cd or restore disk) and you don't have them, you will have to go down a different route.

You can use a great program called crapcleaner.
Go to ccleaner.com
This will uninstall and delete programs as well as remove unnecessary junk on your pc

Programs that aren't actually running, don't really slow the PC up, they just fill your disk up, and make the registry a bit bigger. Suggest you concentrate on programs that run at startup, using msconfig or http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/autoruns.html
And look to see if you have loads of programs loaded on the bottom right of your taskbar.
Doing a ccleaner and the occasional defrag might help though as well as running through the spyware / virus checks mentioned elsewhere on the board.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
