NatWest Balance ISA transfer

Options
Has anyone had any problems tranferring their transfer to NatWest?

I applied to transfer my ISA on the 1st October from Barclays and hasn't gone through. Have phoned various times to Natwest who said that Barclays have not received the transfer form...

Could I also ask, NatWest have reassured me that when it eventually goes through (if it does) the interest will be backdated from the date of the application (1st October). my question therefore is, will this mean that interest earned from the 1st October from Barclays ISA will have to be paid back to them?

thank you

Re your interest question, no - the money has alrady left Barclays, as they've already sent the cheque, so they've paid the money up until the day you requested the transfer, and they initiated it. There may be a couple days overlap, but I wouldn't worry about that.

Oh and yes, have had problems with transferring to Natwest...

I tried to transfer my partner's ISA; brought in the form, as requested, into a branch.

Met a the most unprofessional salesperson ever (who tells a customer that they're hungover, and that the only reason they know today's date is "cos it's payday tomorrow innit"??). He took the form, everything seemed fine.

Two weeks later, got the form sent back in the post, with a letter saying "We cannot locate your Natwest ISA account. You must have one set up for us to transfer funds".

The moron at the branch obviously forgot to set up the account.

The letter now invites us again to go in branch, ask them to find the account, and then send off the paperwork all over again.

I think not. We're going with Scottish Widows now.
  • thank you for the reply. whats the Scottish Widows interest?

SGE1 - having exactly the same thing happening with A&L at the moment, well not exactly (no assistant telling me he's hungover as yet) but they seem to like to delay in getting the transfer moving and so it seems don't seem to want my money!

    Their E-Cash ISA offers 6%, with a 1.5% bonus for 12 months.
  • I think the NatWest is slightly better for balanced transfer. However, less of a hassle than NatWest probably

sorry, meant Scottish Widows would hassle free...
  • I transferred over to natwest about 1.5 months ago and everything went through ok although it did take about 4 weeks for the money to go from my previous bank to Natwest.
    :D
  • I've just transferred my ISA from Halifax to Natwest and it all went very smoothly - it took about 2 weeks. Maybe I was just lucky...
Hope you get it sorted soon.

I'm still waiting for an ISA transfer to go through from the end of September. I was told at one point that they lost my transfer form and that I would have to fill out another. Meanwhile I made a formal complaint, which I've since escalated to their Customer Relations Unit. They've now told me that they found the form and sent it off, but that it could take another month for the transfer to be completed. I've not yet heard anything about the complaint I made.
