I have prepayment meters for both electricity AND gas. I recently changed to Ebico and British Gas are trying to win me back. In their letter, they stated that they are the only supplier not to charge stanging charges for these types of meter.
I dont get a bill saying how much I have paid, and how much I have used like I used to. Ever since my debt was paid off (which was their fault in the first place since they underestimated my budget plan and let me with a bill at the end of the year for £1000). In the winter, I pay between £60 and £80 A WEEK. Ane everytime I top up, I get 'charges' added on. I have tried to ask them why, but they are just evasive. For example, this morning, my electricity went off. my daughter had put it on emergency, and that is £5.00. So I went and topped up the key with £10.00 - £5 for the emergency we have used, £5 for power. The last time it was topped up was 2 days ago. When I put the key in, the total debt was £8.48! How can I have incurred £3.48 in 48 hours? So now I have 1.52 worth of power until I have to go back to emergency power.
Sorry for ranting, but what am I to do?0 -
£60 to £80 a week ? Try turning some things off.and turn the heating down - 18-20C should be warm enough.
£3.48 in two days is quite easy to use and works out around £50 a month - quite normal I would say. Have you used a tumble drier for instance? are you using Energy saving lights, switching the TV off physically. Are you leaving your PC on when not using it etc.etc.0
