We have a local van at the market and I bought chicken off there a while ago - never again! Was really tough and horrid texture. Even the kids noticed.0

Morrisons are selling gammon shanks ( ham hocks ) for £1.49. Cook one in the slow cooker with some water and you will get enough meat for a meal for 4. You can make a chunky soup use the meat in sandwiches or a quiche Really tasty but don't add any salt until you have tasted it. Delicious with a jacket spud and braised red cabbage. Try frying some leeks onions and carrots and then adding the water and some of the meat for a hearty nutritious soup Enjoy0
