I looked at the netbooks but wasn't sure about the screen size, I also thought that if I was paying out a decent amount of money anyway, I may as well get one with a dvd drive, and a decent sized hard drive.
I went with this 12" Acer Asper 2920

And I'm really pleased I did as the text is just about ok on this screen but I would have struggled with anything much smaller. For the extra money I can also do everything I can on a desktop, but in bed!

What the sound like on this Acer Aspire Laptop? through loudspeakers on the Samsung NC10 Netbook its really low and irritating "tinny" even with head phones its not great listening to Music off YouTube.com
Same goes for Lidl Netbook 10 inch screen 3 year warranty Targa Brand tinny sound Windows XP Operating System if you want to go outside your house you need to attach a Protuding Aerial or "Dongle" from Three.co.uk 3G Broadband easy to break especially when mobile very fragile I think they developing one to be released in Ces electronics expo Nevada 6th January 2009 that applies to Samsung NC10 Netbook they have already got one on the market in Poland in all places:) released December 2008 http://www.sammynetbook.com/news.php
You really need a wireless mouse and head phones to go with this
Good quality Holdster to protect it
and customised Keyboard skin to protect it against spillages from tea and cofee.
PCworld.co.uk do NO accessories for same they have a vested interest that you break it and buy a new one more profit.
Thanks

Sharra, I think you are missing the point on the NC10 its not the main PC but a sub £300 light weight browser and email tool, at home it links into the main PC network and maps to their optical drives where you install software from, moving away from this ideal, it then all becomes extra weight + power drain + cash.0

Hey guys, I've read through this thread and found the info very useful as I am looking to buy a new laptop, so thanks everyone!
I have a Dell Inspiron which has so far (touch wood) been excellent for anything I've asked it to do, mostly browsing and word processing, but have also bought digital decks for DJing so fingers crossed I'll be able to run the software on it too!
I've just recently started a PhD and need a portable laptop for use in different offices and labs so am considering a netbook. I need it for browsing, word processing and to store ms office files etc.
Any thoughts/recommendations would be grately appreciated as this postgrad is on a tight budget!0
