Plumber or electrician needed???

My electric shower is not working properly and I'm not sure if I need a plumber, electrician or both.
First we had a problem with the other box thing, the one that has the red light and cord you have to pull so shower heats the water. The shower wouldn't work at all at first then we managed to get it on but not very powerful.
We've put up with it like this since until today when it is now freezing cold and won't heat at all. So I'm just not sure who I need to call as think it probably is an electrical fault now.
Any advice appreciated

Hi,
The only involvement a plumber has with an electric shower is running and connecting a cold water supply to the shower itself. As this has already been done when it was first installed I'd suggest you get in touch with an electrician.
The plumber should have fitted a valve (Possibly in the loft?) to allow the shower to be isolated from the main water supply. This will enable an electrician to remove it if it needs to be replaced.
Another possibility is to find a plumber who is also qualified to work on electrics if you'd like to be sure.

Yes, the plumber supplies the cold water and the sparky will heat it up for you. Is the box thing red light on? If so is there resettable switch in the shower unit (read the manual), check all cables are secure then replace unit.
These checks MUST be done with the mains power isolated.0 -
Good morning: The OH has been fitting electric showers, extractors, bathroom lighting etc for years: he is a plumber/RGI with electrical qualifications. Visit the CIPHE website to find someone qualified for the job.

Hiya
Try this forum to give you some useful info/troubleshooting guides.

Most shower manufactureres have good, readily available parts supplies.
I'm a tradesman & know that not all plumbers will do a shower repair, just like not all Electricians will. Might just need to phone around. I do know that Mira showers do have a supply & fit service, with something like a 3 day turnaround, maybe your shower manufacturer does too? Check their website.

Thanks for the replies and I will check out those websites :beer:0
