I am trying to find out about my Grandmothers investments she left when she died. My mother inherited paperwork from her mother, in this were War Bonds receipts / numbers and Premium Bond numbers..........
My question is what are War Bonds?? How do we find out?? Are they worth anything?? They must date from WW2 but we know nothing about them.......
We also have some numbers relating to Premium Bonds possibly from the 50's or 60's - are these worth anything?? How do we find out??
Thanks for any help
Tim

I used to handle Post War Credits - these were a WWII loan from taxpayers to the government charged along with income tax. They are quite different from War Loan which are gilts dating from 1917 & which are unlikely ever to be repaid. http://www.thisismoney.co.uk/saving-and-banking/article.html?in_article_id=363216&in_page_id=7&in_a_source=0
