Buying Car using my Current Account Problem

Wasnt sure where to post this, bit of a strange one.

Ok my bank account on Thursday had over £9000 in.
I was purchasing a Car and paying using my debit card. paying £4300.

While in the garage, I used the chip and pin etc but also had to speak to someone from callecentre just to verify the payment was true, the garage assured me they have it happen often with large amounts being spent.

When I got home, i logged into my online banking. It said Balance £9000 ish, available balance £300 or 400.

Almost like Two Payments had been taken.

I decided to wait until the transaction became visible on my A&L Account online statement.

Today it shows the Garage payment of £4300 however statement now says
balance £4700, available £390.

But this pending outgoing/incoming payment still isnt listed on the statement, I expected the Garage payment to be listed twice

What should I do, if the payment had been listed twice I could then at least approach the garage. Am hoping by monday the Statement clears up whats going on.

Theres no way ive made another purchase of such an amount so it has to be the garage, or someones nicked it.

If it dont show up as the Garage. What do I do????

I would call your bank immdiately

Could be a 'reservation' for a debit caused by the additional security check. This ought to disappear (i.e. available balance to go back to what you expect) after 2 or 3 days without a real debit coming through. But I would agree it's a good idea to contact your bank to check.

yea im sure it must be something 2do wiv this callcentre thingy.

What if i hadnt enough funds though, it would have taken me overdrawn and charges would have been fired my way. Monday will ring bank if statement doesnt reveal all.

You still approach the garage. It's the people who process their card payments (their 'merchant acquirer') who have caused the problem ..... and they're the ones who should fix it. Take the receipt in .... the date / time and authorisation code on the slip should enable the 'merchant' to immediately pinpoint the rogue 'reserve' amount and immediately neutralise it.

Your Bank will return the funds to 'available' when the 2nd debit doesn't show up ...... but that will be about another 7 days. The garage should be able to do it immediately by ringing their processing agents.
