Glasses Direct is on Quidco too with 14% cashback and a 10% off code too 'glss'.

It is valid until the 31st December.

I need to get my eyes tested as well overdue but i don't understand the prescription, i ordered some sunglasses but had to send them back as i got it wrong, they corrected them for me though for a small fee.

I have a similar prescription to you and have never paid for thinner lenses! I just get the basic lenses and they are fine!
I'm guessing Specsavers have been conning me for the extra money then - they told me I'd need it in the lenses I chose!!

Hi Elizabeth, I get mine from here http://goggles4u.com/ they take about 2-3 weeks to arrive but so long as your prescription isn't where you need jam jars for lenses then they cost around £15 for everything including delivery. For that price I buy them quite often so I have something nice and stylish for when I go out.

They change their frames often and they have some gorgeous pairs in that really rival the designer ones. I've used them a few times and the quality is fab, they come free with scratch and UV coating and have been miles better than my specsavers ones. Tinting is free as well so you can even get sunglasses for the same price.

They come delivered in a sewn bag with polystyrene, a hard case, glass wipe and spare screws and nose thingys.

  • I bought my glasses online from Hong Kong (can't remember which one it was but it's in the thread already linked to). I have a very high prescription (-12 and -13 for glasses and slightly better for contacts) and a pair of bog standard frames from Vision Express was going to cost around £400+ with the thinnest lenses.

There is an even thinner lens available and I bought a pair with lenses, delivered for £100. The frames were something like $16, quite modern, the lenses the rest. Standard thickness lenses were included for the pairs. I used my existing pair, took the measurements and then input them to get similar sized frames.

I too will NEVER wear my glasses out - or even to the door!! Even thinned right down they are still thicker than 'normal' and I look a right dork!

I was VERY happy with what arrived and would happily use an online specs store again.

thank god for contacts I say!
