Nowt today - in fact I paid in £200 from selling my old piano (although it is already spent on my new one). But I gave my housemate £1 to get me some milk yesterday and she didn't give me my change :( I feel stingy asking for it but it must be about 70p which is two days' worth of fruit at work!

  • Nothing today – hooray. Made a Granary loaf today – how wonderful. I use Hovis Granary flour which makes really great loaves. :p

With regards to your Car Insurance renewal, I find the AA are really good for getting a good quote from. They do all the searching and contacting the agents on your behalf. They saved me more than £60.00 on my last renewal. They have a web site at https://www.theAA.com or their telephone number is 0870 5332211. Regards, Michael.
    :)The £2 Coin Savers Club = £346.00 (£300.00 transferred to Savings a/c)

Zero spend for me today as I have to tax my car tomorrow.

I am soooo happy as my Mum gave me her old car as she thought it would cost loads to fix and bought a new one. (Garage quoted her £450 to fix it). My boyfriend fixed the car for £70 and is now going to give me driving lessons, along with various other family members, starting from Wednesday. So, I'm really pleased with my £70 car. :j I'm using the money I had saved up for professional lessons to pay the tax and the first few months insurance (I shopped around for insurance - true MSE'r!)

I could always have a few professional lessons as well as family members teaching me if I find I'm struggling... I'm really hoping 2006 is going to be a better year for me and I pass my driving test!

    Happy New Year!

Or try www.confused.com Saved me a fortune and was able to pay car insurance interest free over two months!
I am a fee charging WoM Mortgage broker.
I now no longer give information and opinion within the Mortgage boards, because a number of posters who, having approached me professionally, agreed my fee-which has been been made very clear at the outset, taken my advice (normally cancelling a [home visit] meeting at short notice) have then approached one of the fee-free brokers on here to arrange the very same deal I have advised.
Whilst I totally concur with the ethos of "money saving"- abusing the goodwill of a professional who provides a quality service is taking it too far!
  • £5 at the pharmacy. When a sore throat gets to the swollen gland stage it's beyond my herbal remedies :(
Still wish I could buy a TARDIS instead of a house!
  • Not a single penny today, probably connected to the fact that I haven't even left the house! I'm going to try and be more active in this group (and especially this thread series) this year as, though I am fortuate not to have any real debt (Student Loan aside), I have a massive savings target that will be a real challenge to meet.

I'll have to create a signature to track this actually, will be nice to watch the changes throughout the year.

Thanks guys, as always, and all the best to everyone for 2006!

  • £30.71 at Tesco for the weekly shop - although that included a new toothbrush for the boy, and bogof showergels which should last us a month - I also got a big box of biscuits for cheese for £2 (hooray for specials!) which takes the pressure off when we forget to make bread. My daughter spent £14.50 of her christmas money on 12-18 mth clothes (well, she didn't need anything else!) but that's her money, and at only just one she's not budgeting quite the same as us! She has her own tiny swimming costume now, as the outlaws have a swimming pool at their house that we're hoping to take her in (once they're talking to us - don't you just love family christmases :snow_laug )
