Freeserve shares - how can I trace?

Ten years ago I bought shares in Freeserve - the internet provider set up by Dixons. (don't ask:eek: )

I believe the company was later sold to Wanadoo and then on to Orange.
I've not had any communication in connection with them for years.

Can anyone suggest how I might trace the current situation of these shares?

This will be a confusing one. I believe that not only are Wanadoo and Orange involved, Energis did some kind of buyout of FreeServe, and were then subsequently bought out by Cable & Wireless.

Do you know who the registrar of the original shares was?

I've just had a quick search for the documents and not located them yet.
An internet search says of the original launch: "Lead banks are CSFB and Cazenove"

I'll have another search of my filing system ...

Ok, well when you find the certs they will show the registrar on them. Just contact the registrar, explain what you have and they'll help you out.

not sure how far you will get though as it looked like they were eventually owned by France Telecom.

Part of the dot com boom bust werent they, would be interesting to see how the value has varied
