The real reasons are thought to be Direct's takeover by AIG an American company. The US government doesn't like Cubs but Direct refuse to say that this is the real reason though Cuba is generally regarded as a safe destination

Just back from Cuba and tbh it's safer than most places I've lived in the UK....
They know not to harm tourists (apart from maybe pickpocketing and scamming on currency conversions/cigars) as it's where a large chunk of their income comes from and the police will not be too kind to anyone screwing that up for them. Plenty of other insurers out there though that will cover there.0 -
Surely, USA is a more dangerous destination than Cuba, is it not?0

Statistically (i.e. incidents per visitor), probably not.0 -

I can't agree. I think it is common knowledge that outside of gated hotels, the incidence of crime on tourists in Cuba is high.
Have a look at the FCO advice which cautions about the increasing crime rates in Cuba.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest as it is one place where I don't have the slightest inclination to visit.0 -
and look at america, where even in Times Square you can get people trying to mug you, also have a look at the murder rate per capita and I think you'll find that Cuba is far safer than the US.0
