Hi
Can anyone help, I know nothing about this kind of thing
I'm trying to copy my old VHS tapes of the kids growing up, some of it 19 years old now, over to DVD. So I connected the video recorder to DVD recorder started the recording then after about 20 mins it came up with a message about you cannot copy over copyrighted material and switched off but it wasn't copyright stuff, just what I'd done with a camcorder but when I tried again it just kept saying the same thing
Have I done something wrong or does someone know how I get round this please?
Many thanks

No you haven't done anything wrong, its the DVD Recorder thats at fault. Basically it thinks that you are trying to copy a tape that has a Macrovision signal on it and it blanking out the input. There are devices that let you bypass the whole Macrovision thing, but it seems to be purely the fault of the DVD Recorder getting a false signal. My advice would be to try someone elses DVD recorder. If the problem persists then it is probably your camcorder. If all else fails, then you will have to buy a lead or device that strips out the Macrovision signal (they cost from £30 upwards) and hope that that works - no guarantees though.0
