I purchased some taps from b&q for my bathroom not the cheapest, an expensive set and took a day of work to fit them. however the cold tap leaks from the handle (the gland seal) cant i claim the cost of a plumber to fit a replacement set .

Don't think you've got any chance of claiming compensation for that - best you'll get will be a replacement tap unit.
It shouldn't take a day to fit the replacement, assuming all your work was involved in readying/re-routing the pipework. Surely you now just (switch off water supply first) unscrew the faulty one, and then fit the new one?Gingercat0 -
I think your right there gingercat i have since rung the manufacturers helpline and they are sending me a replacement washer kit so it is either that or replace the taps . I know its not a long job but it is annoying when you buy the better quality goods to avoid this sort of thing.0

b and q are awfull ..... when they sell faulty parts , they should send a plumber out to replace them free of charge.
y shud u have to waste ur own time to repair their mistakes.Snootchie Bootchies!0 -
but on the same score, why should B&Q foot the bill because something their supplier has supplied them is defective. They can't fit everything they sell before putting it up for sale to make sure it works0

Further to my post of faulty taps i contacted the manufacturers who said they would send me a replacement valve , but having spent £230 on top of the range basin and bath taps to avoid problems i am not going to repair them the same day.
So i have now taken them back to b&q for a refund and got some victorian style ones from argos that are much nicer and work better for £90 giving me an extra £140 to spend on booze er i mean the wifes xmas present.0
