Hi All,
I have had a few loans and a credit card for balance transfer to my bank account before, but never a credit card for purchases.
I have just received my Barclaycard breath 12 months 0% interest on purchases as I am getting married in Oct 09. I wanted to use the card to pay for various things, I have looked on the website but cant find the answer to my question.
Does anyone know if I can pay for deposit on venue/photographer and other services etc and still get the 0%?
Thanks Laura

Yes.
If it involves giving your card details to a company online, or in a shop and entering your PIN etc then it will be a purchase.
The only thing you have to be careful of is don't use the card for any gambling / betting / lottery transactions as they will be treated as a cash advances and not purchases.0 -
It depends wholly on your card's specific terms and conditions, which you should read for more info.
In general, the biggies not classed as purchases are cash advances, foreign exchange and gambling - essentially anything where what you take could be converted into cash somehow.0 -
If I was to pay off catalogue accounts and store cards online, would these count as purchases? I have read through the T & C but they are not clear.0

No I have an account with a catalogue like Littlewoods, there is no card. To pay off the balance, does this count as a purchase?0

You will need to ask Barclaycard for the definitive answer, but I think they would treat it as a balance transfer, not a purchase.
Paying any sort of account balance is nearly always classed as a balance transfer.0 -
Thanks. But how would they know it is a balance if not coming from a card, just an account?0

I doubt you can pay off any sort of credit account with your credit card. If you can then it'd count as a purchase.0

I've paid both Next & Littlewoods credit accounts before on a card as a purchase. But as above some credit cards may treat it differently you'd need to double check.0
