    Thank guys -
The issue that I have is that he allows staff in when they are fully staffed. He only says no when he is short staffed and people refuse to work. He actually bans them and won't even allow them in if they pay. So he is basically trying to force people to work by preventing them from going out on their blooming nights out. Very cheeky!

Because apparently taking it for granted, to the point of plotting to get people fired, that you always have free entry on your days off to a place that normally charges people isn't cheeky, right?

  • Why would you want to go to your place of work on a day off?

The only club or late licence place in town probably and if your friends are going you would not want to go home early.

  • I worked in a pub and occassionally the same would be asked of me.
My response was I would collect glasses and empty bottles. I would also cover the bar if someone was on a break. I would also say that this was for double pay or my drinks were free all night.
Yippee I had a great time used to get quite disappointed if they didn't need me

I've figured a way around it anyway :) apparently he doesn't have a managers licence which i know is illegal if he is running a club :)

You don't need a Managers Licence until September 2009 when the new licensing laws come in to force (in Scotland anyway - don't know about England but think it's the same). And anyway, any person of authority can refuse entry or ask any customer to leave licensed premises without giving an explanation and failure to leave immediately is a criminal offence.
  • thats standard practice everywhere ive worked, as if theyre short staff, its a slap idn the face to those working harder to see others socialising!!and theres no such thing as a managers licence!!

Technically correct....it's a PERSONAL LICENCE but all named managers for licensed premises will require a personal licence to authorise the sale of liquor.
