you should get tax credits if the household income is less than around £54k although they use the year before's earnings to calculate it

here is the tax credits info and calculator http://www.taxcredits.inlandrevenue.gov.uk/HomeNew.aspx
  • Are you in any debt, is this why you are struggling?

In that case I would start a new post on the 'Debt Free Wannabe Board' and I would post your full SOA (statement of affairs) someone will post a link to it if you can't find it (it should be at the top of the DFW Board I think) and they will help you lower your outgoings and really help you get back on track. It really will help you feel in control believe me.

    Good luck

Less than £17k is for wtc but with three children I think it is a little higher than that.

You are entitled to ctc based on what you have said - it may be just the basic £10 a week, but it all helps!
  • As long as your income is less than £58,000 you would qualify for something.

I dont have time to do a calculation but if you go here you can do it yourself on the HMRC website -

  • Hi tosh2. You are struggling because you have either just had a baby or you are expecting one any day. You have my sympathies. The loss of income is a worry. Try not to panic. You can get a lot of help on this site.

I would recommend you follow the link on the previous posts to the tax credits website. You will be entitled to what is called the Child Element. Fill in the online form and that will give you your entitlement.

Look at all your outgoings together and see where you can cut back. Use the debt free wannabe board for tips and advice.

    Good luck
