I have a Sky Card with 0% on purchases which ends this month. There is £748 on the card and the standard APR is 19.9%.
Shortly before Xmas, I rang them up and asked by what date I would have to pay the card off so as to not incur interest on my purchases. I was told that as the statement has not been printed, a payment date has not been worked out. The date by which the payment must be made will be on the statement but it will be towards the end of January. I was happy with that.
I rang again today just to re-confirm to make sure I knew when to send payment. She told me the 0% ended yesterday and the statement will be printed tomorrow. I will be charged interest from yesterday until I pay the whole thing off. Well I was !!!!!!.
She told me there was nothing she could do. If I had not rang today I would have had another 3 weeks interest to pay instead of the one week until they receive the payment I will send tomorrow.
Think a letter to the complaints department would do any good?

Not the best wording to ask what you intended to. The answer you got refers to general conditions outside introductory offer.cifpower wrote:...I rang them up and asked by what date I would have to pay the card off so as to not incur interest on my purchases. The correct question should be something like "When my 0% introductory offer ends?". It is a common mistake to assume that the end date of the offer coincides with the payment date.0 -
I did say, "I got my card in May and the 0% was for 9 months and I was wondering what date the 0% ends" The call was recorded according to the lady I spoke to today but she could do nothing for me.0

I think you can complain, although you can always find the information you need in the original paperwork instead of phoning CS.0

Hi cifpower. Do you know what date and time you called when you got the duff advice ? Ideally - can you remember the name of the person that you spoke to ? Write a polite complaint letter stating that they gave you the wrong information and point out that they can check this by listening to the tapes. With any luck they may just take your word for it ... or they should get the tapes out if you are formally disputing it.
