Dell "Transfer my pc" option

Options
When I finally see a package I want from Dell (does the McAfee option have to be started now ....I have just renewed mine). I wonder if I should pay extra for this option or can someone advise how I can transfer info and programs from 1 computer to the next..
Thanks

I've got the feeling this only transfers the data from your old PC:- from the Dell site

Cross-Version Migration: There's no problem transferring data developed and stored on your old PC to a more recent release of the pre-installed application on your new PC e.g. from Word'97 to Word XP.

you can transfer the data yourself quite easily and cheaper

copy everything from my documents for each user, most programs have an export data option

this will do all your Outlook express

    http://www.outlook-express-backup.com/

full 30 day trial (you only need 1 day !!)

    just burn everything to cd

Thanks but how do I transfer programs such as word, antivirals etc from my old computer without reloading the discs (some were purchased by download from websites without getting disc).

most new PC's come with word, if you have not got it downlload "Open Office" which is free and works in word format

all the other programs will need redownloading, during installation changes are made to the registry on the Pc, just copying the program over does not mean it will work
