Which is the best way to remove the contents of "My Pictures" in XP and send all to something like FLIKR or Photobucket. AOL are bringing out new
photo software and say that anything in My Pictures will be lost after a certain date in December. I know what everyone thinks of AOL but I just happen to have a lot of photos in there.

Simply right click on the folder My Pictures and rename it to Jakes Pictures or whatever. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

Could you not just create another sub-folder in your my documents folder or do you not want to keep the photos on your hard drive for some reason?0

What has that got to do with AOL? They can't delete pictures from your own computer.0 -

If you get rid of the AOL software then it won't affect the photos and you can do what you like with them (and I'm not saying you should disconnect from AOL, you just don't need their awful software to connect to the internet with them). Also sending them to an online place (usually at inferior quality) is one thing but you should be backing up on a regular and more importantly frequent basis. E.g. if your hard drive failed (it does happen) right this minute is there anything you'd permanently lose? I can say personally that I wouldn't."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Wouldn't put it past them. I wonder if it's a separate "AOL My Pictures" rather than the actual "My Pictures". I'd never risk putting that software on my PC so I couldn't say for sure either way."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

On December 31, 2008, AOL will close the AOL Pictures online photo service. However, we have partnered with American Greetings® PhotoWorks® to enable continued access to your pictures.
We sincerely appreciate your being an AOL Pictures user and we want to help you find a new home for your images. To make this transition as easy as possible for you, we are providing you with multiple options.
Our recommended option is for you to transfer your pictures to our partner,
American Greetings PhotoWorks®. You can also download your photos to your computer or buy an archive of your images on DVD. You can even choose all three options by returning to this page prior to December 31, 2008 and selecting a different option each time. The choice is yours.
But that has nothing to do with it deleting the "My Pictures" folder on a Windows PC.0 -

Yep, think that is probably the case

Either way it's another very good demonstration of why you shouldn't do ANYTHING with your ISP other than connect to t'internet. They can change their services on a whim. And if you eventually move or they get taken over then you're potentially screwed if you locked yourself in with anything (email address etc)."She is quite the oddball.
