FOR THE LOVE OF GOD...
Well thanks for the very helpful contribution - I do know how to use Linux, just as well as I know how to use Windows - I'm just trying to get some useful info about a piece of hardware that I am going to buy - all I need people to help me with is some info about the different versions - so please Conor, if you can't help, shut up and go and annoy other people - but leave us pleasant people alone:rolleyes:0 -
Let's say the Acer Aspire One with Atom processor and1gb of ram - Xp versus Linpus linux?
Yes, the linux version boots a bit quicker, but so?
I've own both. The linux version was a horror. 50% of the time the wireless wouldnt reconnect when in sleep mode, meaning a full reboot. It took ages to work out how to get VLC player working, and eventually after installing a couple of simple programs it stopped booting up.0 -
Interesting comments but can anyone tell me about thebootup times please? Help appreciated please.
Whats your sons obsession with boot up times? why is it such an issue if theres 'sleep' functionality meaning you can close the unit open it and startup in maybe 15 secs? Is his time really that precious? I;d put a few extra seconds of booting up over the sheer frustration of trying to do anything in linux....0 -

Because in Linux, power management is quite broken for the most part so "sleep mode" tends not to work that well.0 -

And you're the only person reading this forum so nobody else reading it might not know that?0
