    Sammy,
    What is easy for you?
Why not just get a big ham, bung in the oven. Do mashed potatoes (I made some the other day with a bag of chopped up greens/leeks/cabbage I got from Tesco I had steamed and DH loved it!)

Or, alternatively, bangers and mash is always a hit-get some posh sausages, make nice mash (can even cheat and get the Aunt Bessies stuff!) and the aformentioned cabbage/leeks etc and bob'd your uncle! Nice, filling, hearty food, easy.

  • Stir Fry's are easy too, look nice and usually a huge hit...

  • I'm munching a huge pile of bacon sandwiches and watches the Now 1983 programme on catch up that was on last night - cheers for telling me it was on Bob!

OMG - Nik Kershaw looks frightening like Gary Glitter!

I'm glad it wasn't just me:eek: I did a double take when i saw him...

    Glad you enjoyed it BB.

Toto..we have pick and mix parents as well...my In laws, didn't want to know when my youngest was born with a disability, all they wanted to know was when she would be alright..errr...
My mum, is another she picks and chooses fav grandchildren..she did that with us as well, and basically won't see two of my brothers children because she disagreed over something they said..so in her words they miss out:confused: Me, well you would have to drag me over hot coals and stick forks in my eyes before anyone stopped me from seeing my children and if i am fortunate enough my grandchildren. In my view it just makes us stronger people who appreciate so much more what we are fortunate to have.

Still lurking around with a hope of some salvation:cool:
  • Sammy - ideas for main - mushroom stroganoff? Lots of recipes if you google - basically butter, onion, mushrooms, bit of sherry, creme fraiche, salt and pepper. Serve with rice or tagliatelle.

    Or

chicken and chorizo paella? You can serve it in a huge bowl with a large mixed salad and some garlic bread?

A beef and mushroom casserole with mash and vegetables would be lovely and warm today.

Shout and I'll give you some more ideas. I'll be around all day as I'm just about to start AQA'ing .

Just got back from work at last, spent most of it asleep in truck...God Bless Asda Distribution Centres and all who fail to work in them!!

Going to get full of wine and chilli tonight at neighbours ( payment for OH painting their hall ) and then Singstar Abba and drunken Wii.

I'm fine thanks BB. I'm working aswell - overtime. I must admit I don't mind it when I'm in the office on my own. I can put my music on and the day goes a lot faster. Plus nobody can see when I'm on the DFW board!

No news on the lay-dee front. I've been away for the past week (on business), and so haven't seen her. We'll see what next week brings.
