Thanks Buffy, it all started at 2 ish wednesday morning when my water broke. She was born at home at 5.41 am but I ended up in hospital for 14 hours because I lost so much blood. But all is great and Lily-Anne is a little cherub.:A

What can I say about your Dad? I try to not have any expectations about my Mom as I was constantly upset...it works-no expectations=never let down...
Can't wait to see more pictures.

Thanks Bunny, I know I shouldn't expect much from him. And I will let it all go now, just do the birthday and christmas card thing and leave it at that. Stupid man, it's his loss.:A

Toto - I have parents like that. While occasionally I mope a bit about "how can they be so uncaring," I generally have to stay in the mindset of "It's their loss" and leave it at that. My son is 2 and they have never seen him in person or sent him a Christmas or birthday card or present or anything. They don't even ask about him (or me or my family for that matter). They just feel the need every six months to send an email with comments designed to make me feel guilty and imply that I'm a horrible ungrateful daughter for living so far away and not catering to their whims and not living my life the way they planned it. I know we have been a quiet lot lately! We miss Jinky and where has buffy been the last few days...
I still have studying to do but I am having today off. We are having people round for dinner tonight. Sounds posh doesn't it, but we very rarely have people round, partly because i get stressed and when i get stressed I drink then drunk then fall asleep. And also as I can't stay awake past nine pm i struggle to entertain.
Anyway bull by the horns, now I have to clean up and see if i have enough plates and knives and forks. I also have no idea what to cook, anyone got any ideas......
We are going to have tomato and butter bean soup to start with a bit of crusty bread.....main and a pudding anyone!

I am SO glad you said that today, perfect timing. got family coming round today and its all a bit crap but I must remember they will not change and I gain nothing by getting unbelievably angry and sulky with them.
now I have a list to be getting on with so if you see me here ask me how far I have got!
take care all
love Buffy who has decided she will not be leaving the house today at all!

back from the library. Didn't have to change the euros back as I had money in my purse still last night for a basket of bits from somerfield. I treated myself to a jar of Aero hot chocolate - it feels very decadent, I'd not tried it before but with 40p off, I thought - what the hell! (I know how to live on the edge). It tastes really odd - like drinking a whole mug of froth!
Toto - as hard as it is, let him be as he wants to be......difficult to say this, but it's his loss and you and Fran have a wonderful family with lots of love between you.

sammy - we're on the other chat thread - no wonder you think it's quiet!! :rotfl:
Ok - first idea is for a pud. Nice and quick and easy
Either - mango fool
Pour a tub of double cream into a bowl and add a teaspoon of sugar. Whip until stiff
Cut the flesh from a mango - as ripe as possible - and scrape the flesh into a sieve with a spoon. Push the puree through the sieve into a bowl and then stir this into the cream. Put in glasses and in the fridge for an hour.
Or
Eton mess - again, whip a tub of cream. Add some strawberries or raspberries and gently stir together. Break up some meringue nests and stir. Serve immediately. If you don't - the meringue will melt to nothing. you could sprinkle a broken up flake over the top of this if you wanted to be extra posh! If you make it in advance, just do the merignue bit as you are about to serve.
Or - lemon and lime syllabub
Grate the zest of a lime and a lemon.
whip a tub of cream (a theme I know but its a great quick way to get a pudding base) and add 2 tbsp of icing sugar. Stir gently, add the zest. Break up some ginger biscuits into glasses and spoon the lemon and lime mix on top and pop in fridge for an hour or so.
