Fixing a friends PC.
Keep getting this up whilst install the OS.......

PFN_LIST_CORRUPT

From what I can gather this is something to do with the memory. Have tried installing new, no joy. I have a feeling the CPU or MOBO is Kentucky Fried......

Also totaly irrelevant, (well same subject anyway) can anybody explain to me MDL Handling? Thanks.

Have you run Memtest on the memory and checked the hard disk for bad sectors? Apparently you can get this if the hard disk is bad where pagefile.sys is initially stored, as it will always be in the same place for a fresh install.

Also, if you've added more memory than was in it previously, you might need to update the BIOS?

Haven't a clue what MDL handling is!

I will try updating the BIOS first, we have already tried a couple of HDD's and a known working stick of memory.
This is what was making think it was something more serious....

  • For MDL Google says "
    1 Moldovan leu = 0.0607384137 British pounds

    "

You'll have to explain what you mean about MDL :D

Also, for installing OS, is it a burned disc? Maybe it's scratched or dirty? This often causes all sorts of bizarre problems. Try burning again with a quality CD-R at low speed.
