Car Hire Company Spain

Has anybody ever heard of (hired from) a rental company called 'Doyoudospain.com' - they seem to be very reasonable but my husband feels it is safer to deal with a company he has heard of. They do have a UK phone number as well as a Spanish number but my husband says this does not mean a thing! Any info would be very much appreciated.

I think that the company is called Doyouspain, and I have used them at Alicante and Murcia airports.

They have good prices, but check out their fuel policy.

If you hire for a week, they will charge you for a full tank, and tell you to bring it back empty.

If you are going to drive 600 miles in the week, that is ok, otherwise you will be gifting them perhaps half a tank of fuel.

The fuel, full / empty, applies to 90% of Spanish car hire, and where they take a good part of their profit. Hope that helps.
  • We usually use http://www.carjet.co.uk/rentacar/spain/Very reasonable prices and also let us pick up at 1 airport and drop off at a different 1 with no surcharge like all the other companies we looked at quoted. Like the previous posted said though most hire car firms in Spain use the full/empty fuel system. Some will let you take it back full if it is on a short hire for a couple of days.
  • I only really have experience of Malaga, and carjet are just brokers, they pass you onto various other companies, as do doyouspain. Almost without exception, they use the full/empty policy, which is a complete rip off. depending on the car, you'll pay up to €60 for your fuel, and almost certainly you'll return it with some fuel in the car. Because carjet are the cheapest, guess what, they attract the longest queues. On my last 3 visits, I waited 45 mins, 45 mins, and 1 hour 30 mins to collect a car. Never again! Earlier this year, I used Cargest (not Carjet) and they still operate the policy that they you give you a car with a certain amount of fuel, and ask you to return with a similar amount. I had a car for a month, and will be using them again soon. Nothing to do with cargest, just a punter fed up with being ripped off by the rest, and very happy with my treatment by cargest.

I've used them several times. They are brokers but you get a good deal and don't have to pay anything up front. I've booked and cancelled before now because they gave me a cheaper quote with no problem amd no penalty. You still need to pay for a tank of fuel and a few euros a day extra for glass and tyre insurance but you do that with most. Check they fix you up with a car hire company with an office at the airport as it's a pain if you need to wait for a mini bus to take you elsewhere.

Thanks everybody for responding so quickly and for giving me your experiences. I'm very grateful for your time. (I never fail to get good responses from the forums) - I will pass them on to 'he who is in charge of driving' and he can take it from there!
