Hello,
Has anyone tried investing in Gold, ive been told that there are website where you open an account, to purchase gold and then sell as and when you need to.
Gold beats inflation, i think.
And being asian, grandparents have allways told of storys when they bought gold only to sell to pay for weddings etc.
PS i need a new savings account as Bradford and Bingley have reduced the rate on internet saver 3

Gold is high at the moment as people rushed to buy it in the last 10 months.
While inflation rose, it's now started falling. A lot of people think deflation is now happening (opposite of inflation).
So, just because in the past your family bought gold, held it for years - and their system worked, it doesn't mean it works all of the time.
Hopefully this link will show you a gold chart.

Think how far that might fall.
Gold, like everything, can go up in price/value ... and down.
