PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING: Hello Forumites! In order to help keep the Forum a useful, safe and friendly place for our users, discussions around non-MoneySaving matters are not permitted per the Forum rules. While we understand that mentioning house prices may sometimes be relevant to a user's specific MoneySaving situation, we ask that you please avoid veering into broad, general debates about the market, the economy and politics, as these can unfortunately lead to abusive or hateful behaviour. Threads that are found to have derailed into wider discussions may be removed. Users who repeatedly disregard this may have their Forum account banned. By the way, do as I say, not as I actually do myself. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Take final readings of meters at the old address and opening readings at the new address, keep them on one sheet of paper together with all of your paperwork for the move and do not lose this paper until you have the closing bill from the old place and the first bill for the new place and you are happy with the closing and opening readings on the bill. After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0 -
We registered at the Move Me website, which lets you produce a planner with useful reminders about what you need to do before and after moving. It also provides template letters with drop-down menus of addresses of organisations such as the main banks, councils, power suppliers, etc.
I printed the letters off before we moved (knowing that the computer would be out of action for a while) and mailed them in window envelopes. I also had change of address cards printed (I used Vistaprint postcards which were free with just postage to pay - but you could print something off on your computer printer) and have put them inside Christmas cards ready to post - I printed off address labels for those before moving as well. This will save you some postage!
Ditto to all the above - especially the tips about redirecting mail (you can do this online at the Royal Mail website) and about making your bed up as one of the first tasks at the new house.
Lots of luck and happiness in your new home! :beer:0 -
