Primary school application form/preferences help

Hi
We have just received the form to complete to apply for a primary school place for our daughter, the form has space to specify up to 2 preferences. I live in quite a small village and would obviously like her to attend this school but it appears that this was over subscribed this school year, my question I guess is this, should I specify 2 choices (although dont really have another back up choice yet) or will having specified 2 choices as opposed to just the one mean that I am more likly to be offered the 2nd choice if the local school is over subscribed (to allow those who have only specified one choice to get their preference).
Hope that makes sense, any advice would be most welcome
thanks
Jim

I would say still put your other choices down. I have just applied for DD who is due to start school in Sept & here they take your 1st choice & apply all the criteria if you are not in the top xx (however many in the intake) they put you in the second choice set. Leaving out your 2nd choice if you do not make it in the 1st school they will choose for you!
Here I get top put my top 3 options. So I will get one of them (hopefully our first choice as we are very close as the crow flies)
Good luck

I would put your second choice down as like the pp said if you dont and you dont get your first choice they will choose for you. We get 3 choices here too, luckily I got dd1's 1st choice but am still worried dd2 wont get in cos its usually oversubscribed so will be putting other choices just in case.DFW no.630!

If you are in the catchment for your 1st choice they will give you a place if there are any. It won't make any difference that you have put a second choice down. If you don't put a second choice and don't get into the first choice then they will offer you the next nearest school (and it may be one you don't want) so I'd always put a second choice school down.Grocery challenge July £250
