student daughter needs gift ideas for rich friends

Last year my dd was in a similar position. This is what we did for 8 friends:-
Bought two packs of 4 latte mugs (£8)
Made 50 homemade truffles and wrapped little parcels of 6 in cellophane(approx £5)
Bought packs of different flavoured hot chocolate mix and added 3 to each mug (approx £6)
Bought 8 X flake bars (£2.50)
Put all of the above into the mugs, wrapped the whole lot in cellophane from florists (£2), tied a red bow around the top et voila - 8 presents for under £25!
Finishing touch (free) is to add personal messages referring to what has happened to the recipicant during the year asking 'What is chocolate good for?' For example:-
Celebrating exam success
Getting over a breakup with boyfriend
Making up with friends etc etc
Type out on computer in little text boxes (about 2" X 3"), print out on nice paper or card, cut around text, collect together, hole punch top left corner, thread through red ribbon to hold together, attach to top of mug.
Worked a treat - her friends were thrilled!0 -
Personally I think if her friends are well off then trying to make something cheap look expensive won't work at all and could back fire. I'd keep it simple & personal, either huge personalised home made chocolate slabs or a framed nice group photo as these are both things girls of any age enjoy but are unlikey to get elsewhere & are cost-irrelevent
Good luck whatever she decides!;)Post Natal Depression is the worst part of giving birth:p
In England we have Mothering Sunday & Father Christmas, Mothers day & Santa Clause are American merchandising tricks:mad: Demonstrate pride in your heirtage by getting it right please people!0 -
how about some cereal bowls, sprayed gold- 'begging bowls for the elite', when daddy's money dries up!:rolleyes:Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

I still have the framed photograph my school friends gave me when i was 18... its the one present I remember and treasure out of all the many presents I was given by them throughout my years at School, so I think this would be a good idea. You could buy plain frames and decorate them to suit each girl.tying hard to cut down grocery shop bill...0

how crafty is she?
Maybe buy some stretch magic (e-bay) and glass beads and made them all stretchy bracelets? Pop them in organza bags, et voila!0 -
Maybe buy some Xmas stockings and gift wrap some pressies (see ideas above and maybe some retro sweeties) and the satsuma and nuts. Xmas is great for bringing out the child in us all.
Don't know if they still sell it, but a bottle of diamond white cider and a bottle of castaway...pour together into a pint glass. Tastes like lilt but very potent.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
if they would turn their noses up at poundland etc then they cant be that good friends. its the thought of a gift that counts NOT how much it cost!
how about
a photo of them all together in a frame?
lipstick/nail varnish/nail files etc - wilkinsons do loads of bits cheap and you stick it all in celophane would look great
earings - markets do nice cheap 1sdue to spilling coffee :coffee: on my keyboard it works when it wants to :rotfl:
