  • Thank you, what is fensa?

Edit, i've just looked it up. i have asked him if so, awaiting reply. How important is this?
  • The fitter says I can have a fensa certificate at extra cost (does not state how much) and that it is not required unless I sell.
No plans to sell in near future but that may change.

Should I pay extra for this & what should it cost?

all windows and doors fitted after april 2002 should be certified under fensa or be checked by local authority to make sure the instalation conforms to building regulations .no doubt he is doing this as a cash job and not complying with these regulations hence why your estimate is so cheap .if i knew who he was i would report him to fensa because he is doing all the bonefide companies like ourselves out of work and being a fensa members paying every year so that we can certifiacte our work .probally hasnt got public liability insurance either.

  • It is not cash.
    Report him for what?
He has a legitimate business as far as I'm aware.
    Perhaps I'm missing something

Basically your quote is quite cheap, it would seem like a "cash in hand" jobbie from an outsider's view. You shouldn't need to pay extra for the Fensa certificate. If he advertises anywhere(yellow pages etc) he should probably have the Fensa logo on his ad if registered with them.
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.
  • basicaly by not giving you a fensa certificate if he is fensa registered he is breaking fensa guidlines
