mini rant re JSA giro (got cash eventually!)

had a shortfall payment due to me, when signed on yesterday their 'puter said £££ was processed on Tuesday, due into bank today (21st)..

checking bank late last night, and agains this morning, nothing showing. rather concerned now, as any delay may not mean any food til after the weekend-

so called the nice peeps on the 'hell(p)line', who confimed dates amounts etc, and said someone would call back around lunchtime, to arrange collection of a new giro from my local office..

come 1pm, still nothing heard- called JSA again, different person this time, who said i had to wait til someone called back (no calls taken by the processing team??)..

THEN the post arrives, with letter dated 18th, with giro payment (NOT bacs as originally told/expected..)

not sure if this would still be valid, took to post office, and thankfully paid out OK.
:T

I have had no callback from JSA though.. if the post hadnt come, it would have been too late to get anything sorted today..
Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Sounds about right for DWP unfortunately I've never claimed JSA but I've heard that they're worse with JSA than some other benefits.
If my typing is pants or I seem partcuarly blunt, please excuse me, it physically hurts to type. :wall: If I seem a bit random and don't make a lot of sense, it may have something to do with the voice recognition software that I'm using!
  • I had a large payment due, they could have sent the whole amount to my bank but sent a cheque instead. This meant I had to wait 10 days for it to clear!!

Why they couldn't have split it into 2 or 3 cheques, 1 or 2 that I could have cashed immediately with the rest paid into my bank.

They seem to do what suits themselves rather than the needs of the customer!!!

their call handling team are pretty crap about the fact that payments go missing in bacs and that you have to wait upto 48 hours for a call back to investigate

if you get that then ask to speak to the dep manager and they should put a stop on the bacs and issue you a giro in the job centre there and then although it can take upto an hour for it to go through their system
