Brill buy at £50. I thought I had a good deal in May paying £99 for the S50 in Sainsburys.

  • i'm considering this as it comes with a free 2009 map upgrade I believe. How much does it cost to have a satnav set-up in the car?

Free 2009 map updates are being offered on all S series Navmans bought between 1st October and 31st January. (I registered mine even though I bought in before 1.10.08. It defaulted to today's date).

Just register the Navman on http://futureproof.navman.com/index.php .

You can set it up yourself. You just plug it into the cigarette lighter and suction onto your windscreen. Very simple to use (even my OH can do it:D ).

Bit O/T but do NOT stick it onto the windscreen or the dash.

Sat navs are now at the top of car breakin reasons; the scum look for either the 'cradle/holder itself' stuck on the dash/window, but now that many people know this and remove the holder after use, the scum are looking for the tell-tale 'suction ring' marks on the screen or dash.

    So suggestion is ....

Buy a Nissan Note (like me) which has a little flip-up glovebox on the top of the dash which is perfect for holding a sat nav in use........ or find a different way to mount/hold the sat-nav/hide the marks.

An idea might be stick it on the dash as planned and then after removing the holder [each time you get out], put one of those 'sticky matz' things over the 'suction cup' mark...

I appreciate it's a bit of a palaver [sic?] but its either that or a high risk of your window going in [if they see the holder/marks they just assume that the sat nav unit has been put in the glove-box/under seat so smash and search for it.

OH a police officer so he removes all valuables on show in a vehicle. The sat nav usually goes with him. We have the S50 which is widescreen but fits perfectly in a DS case (bargain £1.99 in Argos clearance) which is hard sided so protects the screen from knocks. The lead and holder are put away in the glove box. The sucky bit doesn't leave a mark on his windscreen but that's probably because he only uses it for trips not for back and fro to work!

If we park in a car park and he sees someone going to or from their car with their sat nav in situ he tells them their vehicle is vunerable:o :o

Is this just UK mapping or does it include Europe?

Is this one any good? Hubby already has a Navman and I am sick of him moaning how 'rubbish' it is and thought I may get him another for Xmas.

Confused. If your OH already owns a Navman why buy him another? Just to P him off:rotfl:

I like the S50 but not used the S30. Review here
