The logs of my antivirus software sometimes log updates as being unsuccesful. Technical suport told me to uninstall sypbot, crap cleaner and firefox. I find this is strange and am unwilling to do so. Is this a normal thing? Also please can somebody told me whether I could transfer this antivirus software on my new computer, it has still 11 months to go? Thanks

I had a look at a couple of forums, the general concensus is that the likes of spybot are are not causing the failure, its often a failure at their end.

Instead of uninstalling , why not just do a manual update whenever the update fails ?.

Generally speaking, with technical support, they usually blame other software for any problems, rather than sorting their own softwares problems.

No, that sounds like bad advice and unnecessary. Whereas AV software runs continuously in the background, applications like SpyBot, CCleaner and Firefox run only when you specifically run them and won't interfere with PC-cillin.

What's the reason for the unsuccessful updates? It should say in the logs.

To install on another computer you'll need to run the installation setup from CD or download, but note what the Help says:

Can I install Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security on another computer?
If you install Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security on another computer, it is necessary to re-register your software after you install Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security. You must perform the Registering your software procedure.

Note:

One serial number can only be used for one computer.
