DVD player - won't open!

I have a perfectly good DVD player, but when I came to use it yesterday, it won't open for me to insert the DVD. (Power etc all ok). Just wondered if there was anything I could press / hit / wiggle to get the drawer to open!
Thanks...

Have you unplugged it, waited a short time and then plugged it in again?

Fortunately there's no disc in there. The player's less than a year old - from Amazon - but I didn't want to go through the hassle of returning it if there was an easy solution!!

Yes, tried the usual unplugging etc - no luck!
  • The belt may have come off the motor and stopping the eject from working, or the belt has snapped.
I opened mine to find the belt had come off and once i put it back on it worked again.
I'm not poor i'm just skint
  • I once had a disk stuck in mine and simply opened it up using screwdriver - very simple, and easy to put back together again too - only thing to be aware of is if it is in warranty, then this might be invalidated in opening it - hth

If you look under where the tray comes out there is usually a small hole, if you push a pin in the hole the tray will open slightly so you can pull the tray out then using the remote press the open/close button.
